Energy Systems Group Lead Electrician in Utah

The Lead Electrician performs operations, maintenance, and repair of systems and buildings at company and customer sites ensuring reliable, efficient, and cost effective long term operation. Their primary focus and expertise is with facility and equipment electrical systems.

  • The Electrician maintains one or more systems that provide an establishment with such services as heating, cooling, compressed air, steam, high temperature water, and/or electricity

Duties as an Electrician involve:

  • performing a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.

  • installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment;

  • working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications,

  • locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment,

  • working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment

  • using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments

  • In general, requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

  • performing diagnostic tests and measurements on equipment

  • performing repair response service as directed by Facility Manager

  • assisting technicians/operators on complex electrical service issues as needed

  • completing regular technical and safety training

  • the ability to work safely from ladders, elevated platforms, and boom lifts

  • the Ability to use personal protective equipment including any required for arc flash protection

  • working rotating on-call schedule, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

  • ensuring outstanding customer satisfaction. Builds and maintains positive relations with key customer management and staff employees to ensure the company maintains a positive image with our customers. Develops a comprehensive understanding and adherence to customer contracts.

  • meeting with government personnel designated by the Contracting Officer to discuss facility operations and maintenance activities. Assists Facility Manager in development, completion, and presentation of all periodic reports.

  • performing all duties will require occasional travel to other sites to perform maintenance, repairs, or oversight of subcontractors as deemed necessary by management



  • Journeyman/Master Electrical license or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment

  • Basic computer skills required including data input, work order coordination and daily logs

  • Documented completion or able to complete OSHA 30, NFPA 70, and arc flash training within 3 months of employment

  • Six (6) years installation/troubleshooting experience


  • Associate’s degree (AA or AS) or Technical degree with related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining DDC and energy management systems

  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC equipment

  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining generators and engines

  • Experience maintaining substations or photovoltaic equipment


  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Ability to work a shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • High-level understanding of facility electrical systems with extensive field experience installing, repairing, and modifying electrical systems.

  • Technical knowledge of facility energy infrastructure (mechanical and electrical systems and equipment), energy conservation practices, facility operation and maintenance and other ancillary building systems and equipment.

  • Consistent, long history of doing the "right" thing particularly in the face of adversity or ambiguity.

  • Strong safety background and focus to ensure zero incidents in a very hazardous environment. Never compromise safety in order to just get job done.

  • Maturity and professionalism to effectively handle frequent exposure to senior members at ESG, as well as with external organizations, customers, and the public

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Able to obtain access to customer facilities without government escort. Does not require a government security clearance.

  • Able to operate motor vehicles both on and off the facility in performing work duties.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

  • Able to use a Computerized Maintenance Management System in the performance of their duties.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, manuals, etc.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must occasionally push, pull, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to walk, climb stairs, climb ladders, and work at heights using proper fall protection equipment.

The employee must occasionally work in confined spaces, bending, stooping, or squatting for indefinite periods of time while servicing equipment.

The employee should be able to respond immediately to potential incidents within the plant involving remote equipment, which requires the ability to move quickly up and down stairs and/or across the building(s).

The employee should have dexterity in his/her hands with the ability to effectively operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment within the building.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision and depth perception.

The employee should also be able to operate a computer and have at least a high school level of comprehension and retention.

The employee is required to practice, recognize, and interpret safety precautions and follow safety rules and OSHA requirements as they relate to the job.

The employee must be able to work in varying conditions both inside and outside. Conditions may include noise, heat, cold, dust, rain and others.

The employee must be able to work in conjunction with others. The employee must be able to communicate verbally to answer and place calls.

The employee must be able to obtain permission from approving authorities to access customer sites without escort. This may require a successful background check and/or full U.S. citizenship.

Registered driver’s license is required.

Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
