The Utah Department of Transportation is looking for a skilled and motivated person to fill our Traffic Signal Technician (Electronic Technical Specialist II)position in Salt Lake City,Utah.This is a journey level electronic technical specialist position performing complex electronics tasks.In this position you will install,repair and maintain the various electronic equipment used by UDOT toKeep Utah moving.Principal DutiesAs theElectronic Technical Specialist II,you will work in the field and perform electronics tasks including:Installing and maintaining traffic signals and highway lighting equipment.Inspecting traffic signal equipment and systems to verify safety,maintenance,conditions,functions,and quality.Installing parts,equipment,lines,hardware or software,etc; troubleshooting and making adjustments to optimize initial performance of traffic signals.Operating,maintaining,calibrating and adjusting specialized traffic signal equipment.Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems,making adjustments,repairing and-or performing preventative maintenance on traffic signal controllers,equipment,or machinery,etc.Maintaining accurate records and logs.Wiring and rewiring electrical control equipment,circuits in signals,or other electrical systems.Driving and operating a bucket truckCompleting other duties as assignedThe Ideal CandidateThe best candidatewill have:At least two years of either related work experience or electronics education (or a combination of both).Aworking knowledge that includes a combination of the following: electronics and electrical systems,traffic signal technology,and traffic signal construction.An International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level II certification.This position may be filled as an Electronic Technical Specialist I for those who do not have at least twoyears of experience-educationand those without anIMSALevel II certification. In order to qualify for the underfill,the candidate will have:At least six months of related experience and-or education.The IMSALevel I certification.The ability to complete the IMSALevel II and other job-related training during the first year of employment. Certification and training provided by UDOT.
